Statement of Faith: Our Beliefs

First Things

We believe that God is the Creator, Provider, and Sustainer of all things seen and unseen; and that He spoke all of creation into perfect existence through Jesus Christ who holds all things together. We believe that Adam and Eve were perfectly created in the image of God, and that all humanity is directly descended from them. (Genesis 1:1-2:25, 11:10-30; Matthew 19:4-6; Colossians 1:15-17)

The Word of God

The Holy Bible is the word of God and consists of 66 books. We believe that the Bible is inspired and written by human authors, and that the word of God is inerrant in the original manuscripts. It is the final authority in all matters of the Christian faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21)

The Trinity

We believe that there is only One true living God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. All members of the Trinity are equal and divine in perfection, and work together in harmony with different responsibilities regarding creation, redemption, providence, truth, and judgment. (Genesis1:1, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 25:31-32, 28:19; John 1:1-13, 14:16-17, 25-26, 16:13-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-30; Ephesians 4:5-6; Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 1:15-19; Hebrews 1:8, 9:27)

God the Father

God the Father is an infinite personal Spirit perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, and He hears and answers prayers. He saves from the bondage of sin and death, and gives eternal life to all who come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ. (Matthew 6:6,8, 23:9; John 3:16, 4:23-24, 6:27; Luke 10:21-22; Romans 10:9-13; I Timothy 2:5-6; I Peter 1:3)

God the Son

Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and was born of a virgin. Jesus Christ lived a perfect and sinless life, performed miracles, and taught Truth. He died to atone for the sins of mankind, was resurrected from the dead, and ascended into Heaven. He is constant in his unending intercession for His people, and will return to earth. It is only through Jesus Christ that a person can be forgiven for their sins, be born-again and have life eternal. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 3:16, 14:6; Acts 1:1-11, 4:12; Romans 5:6-8, 6:9-10; I Corinthians 15:3-5; II Corinthians 5:18-21; Ephesians 1:18-23; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-4, 7:25; Revelation 19:11-16)

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment as well as to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer in Jesus Christ, and that He is forever our Counselor, Helper, Teacher and Guide. (John 14:16-17, 26, 15:26-27, 16:8-14; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:11, 19; Galatians 5:22-26; Ephesians 5:18-21)

Regeneration

God created man in His own image. By sin man was separated from his Creator and condemned to death. We believe that those who repent and forsake their sin by believing solely in Jesus Christ as their Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become new creatures, delivered from condemnation, and are recipients of eternal life. There is salvation in no other name but Jesus Christ, and that we are saved by grace through faith in Him. (Genesis 1:26, 2:17, 3:19; John 1:12-14, 3:16-18, 5:24, 30; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:19, 23-26, 5:19, 6:23, 8:1; II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; I John 2:2)

The Church

The Church is a living spiritual body of which Jesus Christ is the Head and all believers are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a body of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost world. (Matthew 28:17-20; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:4-6, 5:19-21; Colossians 1:18, I Timothy 3:15)

Christian Conduct

We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of all people, and that their conduct should be blameless before the world. Believers should be faithful stewards of all they have been given, and that they should seek to realize, for themselves as well as others, the full stature of maturity and discipleship in Jesus Christ. (Matthew 5:2-16; Romans 12:1-2, 9-13; I Corinthians 2:14-3:3, 6:20; Ephesians 4:14-32; Colossians 1:13-14; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 6:1-2)

The Ordinances

Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Christian Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23-29)

The Last Things

Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to earth, and His kingdom will be established. The body will be resurrected; there will be final judgment, including the endless suffering of the wicked, and the eternal life of the righteous. (Matthew 16:27, 24:30; 25:31-46; Mark 14:62; John 14:3; Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; II Timothy 4:1; Revelation 1:7, 19:11-16)

Our Mission Statement

We were created by God, for God to love and serve God by loving and serving others.
